🔍 Preflight / Pre-light
Appearance & Construction:
Thick and oily with a deep reddish-brown hue, the T52 Flying Pig is stout and imposing. The toothy wrapper has a seamless finish despite its chunky vitola. It’s perfectly rolled with a tight pigtail cap and slightly box-pressed body.
Aroma:
Richer and more savory than the No. 9—earth, hay, pepper, and tangy fermented tobacco. The foot adds barnyard and cedar spice.
Cold Draw:
Smooth resistance with notes of black pepper, leather, dry wood, and a faint tang of citrus or vinegar—typical of stalk-cut fermentation.
🔥 First Third
Flavor:
The T52 comes out swinging: spice, cedar, dry earth, and dark roasted coffee up front. The retrohale hits with pepper and a nose-tingling zing. Leather and charred oak follow. Less sweet than the No. 9, but more punch and structure.
Burn & Draw:
Draw is ideal with rich, dense smoke production. Burn is decent for a Flying Pig, though may need a minor correction around the shoulders.
Strength:
Medium-full. Bold and assertive, but not overwhelming.
🔥 Second Third
Flavor:
Complexity deepens—umami, mesquite, and toasted almond enter the mix. Retrohale smooths out, revealing warm baking spices (nutmeg, anise). Leather and pepper remain, but now balanced by a roasted walnut note. Less sweetness, more savory and dry.
Burn & Draw:
Burn line improves, very little maintenance needed. The cigar is hitting its stride now—smoke is oily and mouth-coating.
Strength:
Climbs toward full. A satisfying body that holds your attention.
🔥 Final Third
Flavor:
Earthy and dark. Pepper returns heavily on the finish. Cedar, espresso, and charred meat flavors dominate. Slight harshness develops if over-smoked, so slow pacing helps. Less nuance, more raw power here.
Burn & Draw:
Still solid, though some tightness or minor relights might be needed due to the tapering end.
Strength:
Full-bodied finish—this cigar ends on a punchy, pepper-laden crescendo.
